Why repair paint chips?
Repairing paint chips is important for a couple of different reasons. Other than improving the appearance of your vehicle, untreated paint chips can ultimately lead to rust. Even the smallest paint chip can cause big issues down the road, so we recommend getting them repaired as soon as possible to prevent any rust or other complications!
How much does paint chip repair cost?
We have an affordable base price that starts at $99 that can range up to $299 depending on the quantity and severity of paint chips. Most touch up paint jobs don’t exceed $299, but it can absolutely be possible to exceed that price depending on the severity of the damage.
How long does it take to repair paint chips?
You can expect paint chip repair to usually take anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours depending on how many paint chips there are and where they are on the car. However that time can vary depending on the severity of the damage.
Do we do any repainting?
No! That’s the beauty of touch up paint. We can fill in your paint chips without repainting anything which keeps the integrity of your factory paint job at its peak.
Why would I choose touch up paint over spot blending or body work?
Touch up paint is the perfect option for small paint chips and small scratches because when you have touch up paint applied to those places, it is usually a good indicator that the surrounding factory paint is healthy and in tact. In the contrary, a spot blend or body work could be covering anything, meaning that if spot blending was done to a small area that touch up paint could have handled, then someone else looking at the car could question the integrity of the repair area because they aren’t sure what was there before. However, with touch up paint, it’s simple to see what the damage was and there’s no mistaking it for something it wasn’t.
Is touch up paint a good option for deep scratches?
Touch up paint can take away from the visual brunt of a deep scratch on your car, but it will not be perfect by any means. Applying touch up paint to a scratch can provide all of the same benefits of paint chip repair, however something to keep in mind is that scratches are typically much larger than paint chips which means it is more difficult to get a uniform looking area than it is in comparison to paint chips.
Does touch up paint provide an exact paint match?
This is a question we get asked frequently and in short, the answer is no. This is because how we apply touch up paint is different than how cars are painted from the factory. Even touch up paint with the same paint code on metallic and pearl finishes will come off as a different shade or color all together because the metallic/pearl ratio in the touch up paint is laid differently on the car which gives it a different pigment. However, we can achieve an extremely close color match that almost has an undetectable color difference.
Is touch up paint supposed to be perfect? Can you achieve perfect results with touch up paint?
No, touch up paint is not supposed to be perfect. Touch up paint takes away from the blemish that paint chips create and visually blends the undamaged areas together so the eye skips over the damage from a few feet away. Touch up paint is not the same as repainting or spot blending, so it’s important to have realistic expectations before getting any touch up paint done to your vehicle.
Why should I pay someone to apply touch up paint to my car?
There are many reasons why you would hire a professional over applying touch up paint yourself. Here are a few reasons:
• If you are uncomfortable applying touch up paint yourself.
• If you aren’t sure where to get touch up paint with your paint code.
• The time, money, and effort you spent applying touch up paint yourself can equate to (and sometimes cost more than) hiring somebody to do the job.

Before
One thing that is important when it comes to touch up paint is to manage expectations. Where we can offer a quality repair, touch up paint in itself is not a means of perfection.

After
Touch up paint is meant to fill the chip in, protect the exposed metal and make the chip virtually invisible from a few feet away.

How do we repair windshield chips?
First we assess the chip and surrounding area to ensure there aren't shards of glass, debris, or any moisture inside of the damaged area. After that we use state of the art windshield repair tools to suck out the air in the cracks/chip and then we fill it with high quality resin. Once that resin is cured we fill in the pit at the point of impact to make the outside of the glass level again.
How do I know if my paint chip can be repaired?
-
If the damage is under 6 inches long
-
If the impact point is smaller than a dime
-
If there are 3 chips or less
-
If the damage does not block a camera or a sensor
Will insurance cover my windshield chip?
That all depends on your auto insurance policy and the fine print it entails. Though we do not directly charge insurance companies or their third-party affiliates, we can provide you with a pictures of the chip and a receipt upon completing the repair that you can turn into your insurance so they can reimburse you.
Meaning, if your policy covers windshield chips you can send the receipt over and get reimbursed. That way you technically didn't spend any money on the repair.
Though we cannot guarantee that you will be reimbursed, most people with glass coverage on their policies get reimbursed with no issues.

What aren't the bigger companies telling me?
At Onsite Auto Spa, we take pride in our transparency and customer education. We often take the time to explain the potential risks involved with certain services we offer so that there is clear communication before, during, and after our appointments with customers. With that being said, here is a disclosure when it comes to fixing windshield chips. Upon filling out our contact form we will require a signature stating that you have read and understand this passage.
*When it comes to the repair process, we often have to add a small amount of pressure on the impacted area before and during the repair. In rare cases, the structural integrity of the windshield could already be compromised and cause further cracking when that pressure is applied. In the off chance of this happening, you would need a new windshield (which is a service we do not offer). Another thing worth mentioning is that depending on the severity of your damage, there is a chance that the damage can still spread even if the chip is filled with resin.*
We have fixed hundreds of windshield chips with no issues, but the possibility of these particular issues are worth noting. Please keep in mind that this passage is not meant to scare, but to educate our customers.
Are windshield chips supposed to come out completely perfect? What should I expect from the repair?
A general rule of thumb that we like to tell our customers is that windshield chips typically come out 80%-90% better. The percentage range can vary depending on the severity of the chip. Repairing windshield chips is more so focused on reestablishing the structural integrity of the windshield and reestablishing driver safety rather than making the damage completely invisible. Just because its not perfect, doesn't mean its not high quality. When the repair is finished you may still see where the repair took place. This is why we like to tell customers to expect an 80%-90% improvement in their windshield chip.
